Together with the Dutch Embassy for Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia, the Peruvian Dutch Chamber of Commerce – NLAndes held an event in the framework of knowledge exchange on Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and port development.
In the presentation on the SEZ concept, NxtZones CEO Douglas van den Berghe, a Dutch expert on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), SEZ, Competitiveness and Innovation, emphasized the importance of state strategic plans in relation to different specialized industries. Special Economic Zones (SEZ) are instruments of economic development that propose, based on the use of the productive potential and resources of a region, the creation of industrial hubs that promote regional and local development within the borders of a country.
In the presentation on port development, René van der Plas, International Director of the Port of Rotterdam, shared best practices from this port, which is a world reference. He stressed the importance of an adaptive process in port development and of open dialogue between all stakeholders.
We would like to thank Douglas and René for their willingness and all the authorities and business community present for participating in this exchange of knowledge.
